Tour of Bangsai Arts and Crafts
Center, a Royal Project by Her Majesty the Queen of
Thailand
Bangsai Arts and Crafts Center and Village is
another
tourist attraction which is located at about 60 kms
from Bangkok. On an area of 285 rai (14 acres), the
Bang Sai Center provides training in folk arts and
craft.
The Center is under the Promotion of Supplementary
Occupations and Related Techniques which was
established under Royal Patronage on July 21, 1976. |

How to Get
There
1) By Car : Follow the highway to Bang Pa-In and
branch off about 24 kms from the Bang Pa-In
intersection.
2) By Bus : Bus No.17 (Bangkok-Bangsai-Bang
Pa-In-
Ayutthaya) leave from the Northern Bus Terminal
(Morchit 2) every 30 minutes from 06.00 to 18.00
hrs.
3) By Boat. The tour agent can provide
information on the
organized tour from Bangkok to Bangsai and Bang
Pa-In. |

Sceneries
Upon arriving at the Bangsai Centre you can see
Administrative
and Public Relations office and canteen.There
are many parking
lots and small train will take you around if
you'd like.
For visitors coming by boat from Bangkok it is
very convenient
to disembark and visit Bangsai Centre. The river
scenery is
quite pleasant and Thai lifestyle can be
observed. |

The Bangsai Centre has a large compound and
there are
many interesting places to visit. Each building
has been
carefully designed, built and maintained. The
landscape
is beautiful and easy for walking around. |

An
interesting visit to the Bangsai Arts and Crafts
Village
is to see a beautifully designed landscape with a
group of
25 Thai style wooden houses. These houses are based
on
different architectures of the Central, North,
Northeast, and
the South. For each house style you can see
lifestyle, the
exhibit of Thai living, old style furniture,
antiques, and how
they make handicraft products.
Cultural Shows
The Bangsai Arts and Crafts Village also organizes
the
cultural shows for visitors daily such as long drum
(klong Yao) dance and long drum procession, children
at play and folk games, swords fighting, etc.

The
Bangsai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts centre occupies an
area of 14 acres in Amphoe Bang Sai which can be
visited either by road or river. It was established
under royal patronage in 1976. Farmers from rural
areas undergo training in folk arts and crafts here.
Visitors will have a glimpse of various different Thai
houses in regional styles and see how the rural people
produce exquisite handicrafts including fern vien
basketry, weaving basketry, artificial flowers,
hand-woven silk and cotton, silk dyeing, wood-carving,
miniature hand-modeled Thai dolls, furniture making,
and cloth-made products. |

The Training Center
located in the central portion of the Center's ground,
consists of workshops for the various arts and crafts
taught and practiced. Tourists can wander through
these buildings and admire the finesse and precision
Thai craftsmen employ in making their products.
Training, and long hours of painstaking effort are
required to achieve results of out standing quality. |

The Arts and Crafts
Village is a
blend of many traditional houses, in different styles
of architecture, from all over Thailand. The village
is a permanent place to display and demonstrate Thai
arts and culture, such as lifestyles part-time, folk
shows and plays. |

Week day open from 8 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. Weekend open from
8.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.
ADMISSION: Foreigners - 100 baht for adults and 50
baht for children. Thai people - 50 baht for adults
and 20 baht for children.
